{"id":3114,"date":"2021-08-16T14:34:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T14:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?p=3114"},"modified":"2021-08-16T14:34:00","modified_gmt":"2021-08-16T14:34:00","slug":"making-time-for-cpd-in-a-learning-technology-leadership-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?p=3114","title":{"rendered":"Making time for CPD in a Learning Technology Leadership role"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the past year it&#8217;s been hard to make much time for professional development, or at least the kind of professional development you can plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like many in my position, I had a huge amount of professional development focused on keeping my organisation running in a crisis, emergency governance, financial crisis management and so forth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Things are STILL extremely busy, and look like they will continue to be for some time to come, but I am making time do actually plan some CPD beyond <a href=\"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?page_id=45\">giving talks and<\/a> attending (virtual) conferences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leading Virtual Teams<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of my focus just now is on <a href=\"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?page_id=3013\">writing a book<\/a> and developing my <a href=\"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?page_id=3083\">coaching practice<\/a> on leading virtual teams.  The book sets out to explore what leading virtual teams is really like drawing on years of experience captured in blog posts, podcasts and presentations as a model of open leadership. I will discuss questions such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>How do you effectively manage a crisis as a virtual team?<\/li><li>How do you address personal problems?<\/li><li>What do virtual Team Days look like when they work really well?<\/li><li>How do you create those all important water cooler moments?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anti-Racism in Learning Technology <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am also <a href=\"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?p=3087\">educating myself<\/a> more about what I can do to help anti-racism in Learning Technology, and I recently joined the anti-racism &amp; learning technology group. I gained Senior CMALT as part of the first pilot group in October 2018, and I found the process extremely useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The portfolio has to be reviewed and updated every three years, adding sections on professional development undertaken and future plans. If you would like to have a look at the full version of my Senior CMALT portfolio, you can access the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1RAsAEc-Q5EU05zhyNY6mzPSTcV6iYcq45nvbX-fWHOk\/edit?usp=sharing\">Google doc version<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1NdJWpGCNayXtcUztcfjcD4E-a_xyz-E3?usp=sharing\">evidence folder<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, the scheme has developed further and there are now Open Badges for CMALT in the offing, too, which I am looking forward to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s amazing to look back at my portfolio and reflect on how much has happened since I wrote it in 2018.
