{"id":1834,"date":"2018-11-18T08:31:58","date_gmt":"2018-11-18T08:31:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?p=1834"},"modified":"2018-11-18T08:31:58","modified_gmt":"2018-11-18T08:31:58","slug":"learning-technology-in-higher-education-challenges-and-opportunities-seda-conference-keynote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?p=1834","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Learning Technology in Higher Education &#8211; challenges and opportunities&#8217; &#8211; SEDA Conference keynote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was delighted to be invited to speak at this year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seda.ac.uk\/events\/info\/472\/programme\">SEDA conference.\u00a0<\/a>It&#8217;s a special honour this year, as both SEDA and ALT are celebrating their 25th anniversary and my talk followed inspiring keynotes by Pauline Kneale, Pro Vice-Chancellor,\u00a0Teaching and Learning, from Plymouth University and also\u00a0Julie Hall, Professor of Higher Education and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Solent University Southampton as part of the conference programme.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Keynote-SEDA-Conference-2018-Maren-Deepwell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1825 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Keynote-SEDA-Conference-2018-Maren-Deepwell.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Keynote-SEDA-Conference-2018-Maren-Deepwell.jpg 960w, https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Keynote-SEDA-Conference-2018-Maren-Deepwell-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Keynote-SEDA-Conference-2018-Maren-Deepwell-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is the abstract of my talk:<\/p>\n<p><em>This talk will address the major themes of the conference \u2013 \u2018meeting challenges\u2019 and \u2018supporting staff\u2019 \u2013 from the perspective of learning technology, exploring recent developments in this area and discussing their relevance and implications for educational development and for the work of educational developers. For example, my review of initiatives and key developments from the work of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) will include exploration of our new pathways to professional recognition and accreditation and discuss how these are mapped to other frameworks, including the UKPSF, QTL and Jisc&#8217; Digital Capabilities.
