{"id":1341,"date":"2018-03-04T09:18:27","date_gmt":"2018-03-04T09:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?p=1341"},"modified":"2018-03-04T09:18:27","modified_gmt":"2018-03-04T09:18:27","slug":"open-education-week-femedtech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/?p=1341","title":{"rendered":"Open Education Week #femedtech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next week is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openeducationweek.org\/\">Open Education Week<\/a>\u00a0and in preparation to giving a keynote at the launch of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alt.ac.uk\/about-alt\/special-interest-and-members-groups\/alt-northern-ireland\">ALT Members Group in Northern Ireland<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalwomensday.com\/\">International Women&#8217;s Day<\/a> on 8 March, I have been revisiting <a href=\"http:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/conferences\/big-challenge-ahead-talking-about-equality-iltaedtech17-femedtech-oer17-altc\/\">my talk on equality and open practice<\/a> that I gave last year.\u00a0 The talk specifically discussed the potential of Member Groups in creating greater openness and promote equality.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Equality.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1064\" src=\"http:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Equality-300x172.jpg\" alt=\"Talk cover image &quot;Equality&quot;\" width=\"300\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Equality-300x172.jpg 300w, https:\/\/marendeepwell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Equality.jpg 606w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over the past year, I have seen, supported and been inspired by a pletora of work being done all across sectors to promote equality, for example the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.feministinternet.com\/\">Feminist Internet<\/a>\u00a0project, Kelsey Merkley&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/uncommon_women\">@UncommonWomen<\/a> campaign and the continued growth of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/femedtech\">#femedtech<\/a> community to mention only a few.<\/p>\n<p>With this year&#8217;s OER conference just over a month away (if you haven&#8217;t yet had a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/oer18.oerconf.org\/\">the programme<\/a>, you should&#8230;), it feels even more important to champion open practice for the cause of equality &#8211; open practice that empowers diversity and inclusion such as we saw discussed during <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/engagemooc?src=hash\">#engageMOOC<\/a>\u00a0on Twitter recently.
